Jheyson Arias Serna (born February 25, 1996) better known in the music industry and to his peers and followers as J. Bonny is a Colombian music artist. He was born in Quibdó Chocó Colombia. The beginnings in his career as an artist were in 2012 at the age of 16, where he was awakened to his passion for music. He began his journey in music in the Hiphop Rap genre and doing street freestyle where with his rhymes and freestyle battles he gained is fame little by little. In 2014, he was the winner of the “Festival DeMentes Conscientes” in the city of Quibdó, performing and becoming known as “Best MC Number # 1 Rapper” and was recognized such in his region, this festival is an event that has been in existence for more than 20 years where many recognized artists have performed.

 

      Over the years he began to record songs that helped him gain recognition in his area; songs such as: “Te Tienen de Cachón”, “Eres Especial”, “No Vuelvo” and “Salsa Choke (El mundo de Choke)” among others. As a surprise, the song “Te Tienen de Cachón” that released in 2017 managed to become a hit in many parts of Colombia such as Quibdó, Cali, Zaragoza, Pereira, Medellín, Apartado, Urabá and in other countries . It was there that J. Bonny rose to the next level in the music industry.

 

      In 2017 J. Bonny met with Toño Negron, a recognized international artist, founder and owner of Negron World, an international record label where he was contacted and they discussed and agreed to work on a complete album of 10 tracks with different genres including Salsa Choke, Afrobeats and fusions with accordions and other instruments.

 

      J. Bonny has shared the stage with nationally known artists in many cities of Colombia; He shared the stage in Bogota at the Botanical Garden with the group “Alianza Urbana” and other artists such as: Santiago Cruz, Alexis Play, Cynthia Montaño and Rayo & Toby. While working on musical projects J. Bonny has visited cities such as: Cartagena, Pereira, Huila, Tumaco, Zaragoza, Medellín, and many municipalities in the department of Chocó.

 

      The Chocoano artist has received national recognition through music competitions. He was recognized for the “Campaña Nacional Contra la Gran Minería” (National Campaign Against Large Mining), “Plataforma de Derechos Humanos, Democracia y Desarrollo” (Platform for Human Rights, Democracy and Development) for the best song and composition at the national level; He has also worked with the “Fundación Artística Familia Ayara” (Artistic Foundation of the Ayara Family) in the city of Bogota where he has worked as an artist trainer in which in 2019 they went to the territory of Nariño to carry out a project called “PensARTE” together with the ICBF “Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar” (Colombian Institute of Family Welfare) with more than a thousand young people. He studied as a music producer in which he was appointed by SENA “Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje” (National Apprenticeship Service) as “Technician in Management and Configuration of Audio Equipment” He was part of the group called “Alianza Urbana” where in a song called “Mi Tierra Chocó” they highlighted the diversity and reality of their homeland.

 

      Alongside Toño Negron, J. Bonny is continuously working on a huge project called “Conexión Niche” (Niche Connection) where they pulled out many songs that they had hidden up their sleeves such as “Llegamos los Niches”, “Piden Salsa Choke (Ujúm Aja)” and “Colombia New York” (which speaks a lot about the connection between Colombia and the United States and the diversity and different cultures). The word “Niche” is a term of endearment in Colombia; it’s name given to people of color and Conexión Niche is more than just an album, it’s an ongoing musical collaboration between Latin America, the USA, and Africa (with plans to collaborate with other countries still). They hope to conquer the world with their songs and other works to come.
